Emotional Labour Training
People remember how you made them feel, how you engaged with them, how you cared for them.
We remember strong bonds of community created by emotional labour. Maya Angelou famously said “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
The focus of emotional labour is creating a feeling in which people feel like they got more than they expected. This is turn creates a positive imbalance, a feeling of surplus value (generosity) and it can only be resolved by bringing people together, it creates connection and belonging.
Our emotional labour training helps people develop the skilful action of emotional labour. We help people order their attention (energies) so that their behaviour directs us towards each other.
Success is measured by what does the space between people look like? Building trust and strengthening relationships takes time and effort (attention) and is about reducing the space between people. It requires trust, honesty and respect.
